Abrasive Blasting & Surface Preparation

Before a protective coating can do its job, the surface underneath it has to be right. All Pro Industrial performs abrasive blasting and surface preparation on structural steel, equipment, pipe, pipe supports, platforms, handrails and other qualifying industrial assets — removing rust, mill scale and old coating where appropriate, and establishing the surface profile a coating system is designed to bond to.

What Surface Preparation Solves

Corrosion and coating failure almost always trace back to inadequate surface preparation. Rust, mill scale, oil, dirt and loose material left on a substrate will undercut even a high-quality coating. Proper abrasive blasting removes contamination and creates a surface profile — a controlled roughness — that gives a coating system something to mechanically grip.

What We Provide

  • Abrasive blasting for structural steel, equipment, pipe, pipe supports, platforms and handrails
  • Rust, mill scale and contaminant removal
  • Surface-profile preparation ahead of coating application
  • Field and mobile blasting using All Pro’s blast pots and tow-behind air compressors
  • Coordination with protective coating application as a single scope

What Facilities This Applies To

Manufacturing and processing facilities, warehousing and distribution sites, and other industrial or commercial properties with structural steel, equipment or piping that needs surface preparation ahead of recoating or maintenance work.

Surface Preparation to Match the Coating System

The required surface condition depends on the substrate, existing coating condition, exposure and the coating system that will follow. All Pro Industrial reviews the project requirements and coordinates abrasive blasting to remove deteriorated material and establish the surface profile required for the specified coating system.

Equipment

All Pro Industrial’s blasting capability is built on equipment acquired through All Pro’s investment in industrial blasting and coating assets, including equipment associated with a long-established Magnolia-area blasting and painting operation — blast pots, two industrial tow-behind air compressors, and the trucks and trailers needed to mobilize a blasting crew in the field. See Equipment & Capabilities and About All Pro Industrial.

How We Approach Field Blasting

Before mobilization, All Pro reviews the asset or structure, access conditions, surrounding facility operations, containment needs, air and equipment requirements, and the coating scope that follows. When abrasive blasting and protective coating application are both part of the project, the work can be coordinated as one scope to reduce handoffs between separate contractors.

Safety & Quality

Blasting work requires PPE, containment awareness and coordination with site-specific safety requirements. Our approach is covered on Safety & Quality.
